Kam.86a להַחֲרִיש, v. חֲרִישָׁה II. 2) (b. h.) to be silent. Y.Pes.IX, end. 37a (ref. to Prov. 17:28) ואיןצ״ל חכם מַחֲרִיש and it is needless to say the same of a wise man keeping silence. Y.Ḥag.II, 78a top; Snh.46a, a. e. השעה צ׳ לכך the condition of the time required such a measure; a. v. fr. צריכה (sub. שאלה, בדיקה) is questionable, is undecided.
